IMHO if a bank other than a big 4 was to experience a run, then the Reserve Bank would encourage a big 4 to takeover - I think the last example of this action was the Bank of Adelaide back in the 70's ?? being taken over by the ANZ. If a big 4 was to experience a run, then the Reserve Bank would simply stand in the market place & throw money at that bank until the fear was over; and their pockets are deeper than anyone else s. Now they don't want to have to do this, ( an action of last resort )so they get the politicians to keep on keeping on with their calming words. But, who cares -life will go on and if the worst comes to the worst, I can always go back to my home brew and my neighbours not inconsiderable stock of home made wine.
