Never fear, Scomo gets all his advice from HC. He's our strongest reader, just light on the likes.

In that case, please spare me a minute more of your attention Prime Minister, even though I did note that the chief medical officer said as much yesterday, although I'll put into my own words. I've been wanting to get it off my chest for a while, and after I read a Facebook post yesterday from an old friend who abused a hoarder in a supermarket, it's time that Australia got smarter on the matter.

So-called “panic buying” is actually a good thing.
Stocking up now will reduce pressure on shops later once lock down arrives. If we get into full lock down like Italy - and our present containment policy is not strong enough to result in the eventual lock down not arriving - you’ll be glad that you stocked up earlier. Not so much for your personal needs, but the resulting less need you'll have to be out in public.
Furthermore, the extra buying now is placing stronger demand on supply lines which results in increased manufacturing and supply. The benefits form this will become apparent when in lock down later and manufacturing is forced to reduce production.
Yes, it seems counter intuitive to see others buying more now when you feel that there is no need, but don’t fall into the Aussie hero syndrome that we've developed form other disasters. This one needs to be outsmarted.

Please feel free to share. It may help.
