In a severe flu epidemic, as in the 2014/2015 season, more than 21,000 deaths were estimated.
Germany population = 80,000,000
About 10% get the flu every year = 800,000
Death rate (2014/2015) = 21000 as a % of 800,000 = 2.62%
It was an extreme year and I read that as many as 30,000+ died in 14/15. But it was in German and I can't find it.
