It's not an assertion if evidence is presented to back the statement. Actual contradictions and failed prophesies have been posted to back the claim that there are contradictions and failed prophesies in the bible. Convoluted rationales are then used in an attempt to resolve what clearly are contradictions, if A is true, B cannot be true. Both propositions can be false, of course.

To me, the worst contradiction in terms of moral standards is the character of God as described in the OT as opposed to the NT, a vicious, vindictive God of war transformed by Paul into a God of Love and tender mercy. The two images are totally incompatible. Being totally incompatible, we have an undeniable contradiction. Not just a minor thing, but a contradiction of monumental significance.
