99.99999999999 % of the sino man on the street aint even heard of the DJIA. They just keep on partying, consuming and building suburbs at a time laying kilometres of copper cable at a time. Property prices are coming down after skyrocketing past 5 years tho but mainly cos of GOV imposed bank lending changes to take the heat off inflation .... coupla years ago u could buy a property with 10% down, then they moved it to 20% down, and just now moved it to 40 % deposit needed. Beijing is a bustling megalopolis of the highest global standards and Shanghai is building a new inner suburb by the river in prep for their world expo I think in 2010. The planned move of 350 mill plebs from country into new high-rise over next 5 - 10 years continues at a steady rate. I was looking for petrol prices at the stations but then realised none are advertised cos they are set by the gov nationally and subsidised. Taxi prices are one-fifth of ours so u dont need to own/rent a car if u have a decent job. Bus fares are about 5c and train fares about 30c. Fantastic ORGANISATION for cities of such size. Had 3 clear sky days only this time haha but mostly humid-fog. Couldnt "smell" pollution like u do in Athens. Clean water will be their main future concern methinks. They really need to go NUCLEAR big time as well to meet their increasing energy needs. Cheap energy and clean water will prob be the focus ... suits me.
