I don't know whether you saw the Melissa Doyle stories on 7 but the main point was stay away from people and less contact will mean less spread.
If they are actually curing it in 5 days(0% covid19 in body) then the spread is going to drop off very quickly because less people will have it. They can also use it to stop people getting Covid19 in the first place and apparently countries that use this drug for Malaria have very low instance of Covid19.
I don't know why Australia is going for such a long test program when France have tested it and also the U.S. has these results. Hopefully if the trial in the U.S. proves it our Govt will approve it and start distributing it. Compare the cost of that to the massive welfare packages and loss of business.
The drugs are out of patent and generic with multiple manufacturers. Hcq apparently is $20usd for a 30 day course so not bad.
