"A quandary for many religious believers is trying to reconcile a perfect creator with an imperfect creation."

Perhaps that's because of limited perspective and various assumptions on the purpose of Creation and what "perfect" means.
Perfection would relate to the purpose of such a Creation and how well it fulfilled that purpose.
Also, few religious folk seem to appreciate the degree of local autonomy given to Earth Nature in regards to life on this Planet.
Their "meddling" but perfect God is a complete figment of imagination.

It may be that the first Creation was "perfect". Perfectly symmetrical and all perfect spheres, circles, straight lines, simple linear laws and predetermined interactions between them. Time flowed through everything in equal measure according to it's scale and place.
Then, at some point it became clear to the Creator that because this Creation was static but Time inexorably exerted it's influence, this was causing the Universe to slowly "run out of puff" and not produce any growth.

The current Creation was an attempt to create an "imperfect" Universe with laws that were not necessarily symmetrical and which contained little bits of deliberate "randomness" and variation which together with the myriad interactions between these laws created a "living" Universe of tremendous variation ... "Evolution" in the wider sense.

Our God is endlessly astonished at what His new type of Creation is producing and will be presenting this extraordinary discovery at the next Divine Council of Fellow Creators also know as the "old steady state" Creators.
