s174, sorry but no chance there will be a 20% crash imo, agree with horsetrader, specialist and peterpumpkinhead. To suggest that there will be a 20% crash after both the Dow and the S&P 500 fell 18 per cent, while the Nasdaq slid 15.3 per cent for the week is a little ignorant IMO
SIDO... You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and you continuously sweep around this website with ludicrous comments, do you seriously believe that the markets can continue to tank every day?? Doesn't matter how bad things are there will always be rallies and green days. What is wrong with you?? You are an irritating individual who really does need to do more research.
It is clear to me after watching CNBC all week from 11pm - 4am every night that the DOW was very very close to the bottom last night which is the reason for the volatility. The traders on the floor were all suggesting it and to be honest they are in the thick and thin of it & IMO they have a better feel and awareness of the situation than any other ( and i'm not talking about analysts here, i'm talking about the traders on the floor in green coats ) IMO the fact that the crisis has hit main stream media in the last week has intensified the whole situation and we are now at the bottom.
IMO the markets are future indicators ( a lot of people either do not realise this or have forgotten this ). Look at the banks, they bottomed in July & some of them are still up from those lows, both here and in the states. This mess has been evident and imminent for months and months which is why the market has been battered so much (obviously). It has spilled into main street now but nowhere near as bad as it will. The markets are done IMO, as in bottomed. It won't be pretty from here but it will track mostly sideways for a long while. We will not see another 8 days of red on the DOW again IMO.
It has also been clear to me that the FED have been pretty keen to "find a bottom", as they were very hasty ( Paulsen & Bernanke ) to come out with doom/gloom statements which immediately saw the market react negatively after each speech. On two occasions last week the market was green until the speeches were released. Think to yourself, why would they do that when they know that their words will have negative impact, because they wanted to find the bottom thats why and they have. ALL IMO
