I think that this is just the opening salvo to nationalise the Fed. I think that Trump intends to load the Fed up with debt until it bursts, while using the dosh to get re-elected. I suspect that Trump wants the next USA currency to be gold-backed and treasury-minted. Hence Andrew Jackson, the central bank killer, on his wall. All unconfirmed at this stage though. I'm no expert.
I'm highly suspicious of the reality of the gold price.
