I know about G Bush pleading to the Japanese to buy more US goods and the rumoured of CIA sabotage (whether true or not, I don't know).
However, unlike the Japanese, the Chinese are NOT dependent on any country for their defence. If you actually did any negotiation with them, they are tough as nails - they don't give an inch, but they are loyal customers if you stick to your end of the bargain.
You are living in the past, old man.
When this pandemic is over, go over there and see for yourself - you will be surprised at how modern their society is.
And you will also be surprised by how friendly they are. Keep an open mind.
