Why on earth didn't they just cover the essential needs of anyone who had lost their job or forced to stay home and limit business distress.
They could have cut welfare for the time if they just wanted us to stay home with enough for food/utilities Zero interest charged or paid during the period so no rent required or mortgage interest due. Stimulus funds only to support the covid fight eg healthcare, quarantine, police, repatriations, etc
That is what I thought they meant by hibernating the economy. We would all take a little pain for the greater good.
