The UN should sanction China. All countries affected should mount a case against China in the world court and force them to pay annual instalments to alleviate the debt that countries will be in for many years. But that won’t happen as almost all countries (especially Australia) depend on trade (or handouts) with/from China. Also, the educated industrialised nations are not a majority in the UN.
And now this according to the BBC - China has banned the trade and consumption of wild animals but approved the use of bear bile to treat coronavirus patients. Still showing primitive tendencies.
What can be done?
Write to your state and federal MP and let them know that you do not want Chinese investment in Australia.
When buying anything - if it is made in China, look for an alternative that is made somewhere else and be prepared to pay a bit more.
Do not travel to China. Travel to Taiwan if you wish to experience Chinese culture. Obviously I am talking about when all this is over.
Do not vent on Chinese residents or tourists.
They are innocent victims as well.Most importantly - NEVER FORGET.

We can stop sending them our coal and iron ore.
Refuse their supplies of cheap consumer items and building materials.
That'll learn 'em.

By the way our signal authorities had fair warning.
They use technologies to scrape all sorts of communications mediums.
They picked it up early on.
We knew but didn't have a crystal ball so all we can do now is look back in hindsight.
As far as trusting the Chinese Government.
Simple.
Don't trust them.
Remain wary.
