With respect, the difference here is the supposed proper name of, God, verses the proper name of human Biblical characters.
The purpose of words is to transmit thoughts, true and like I and others have said before, Jehovah is a nice name, but your claim is that it's the proper name of God. Now if that were so, God used His own language to name Himself, therefore it is not subject to a drift in language, culture, pronunciation, etc.
The name of God, no less, is not subject to the same processes that alter words for whatever reason. You can't claim God has a proper name, then dismiss the exactness of that name and come up with some random approximation. You get that, right.
A very clear and concise evolution for the name, Jehovah is known. It is a derivative, non-word made up of the Tetragrammaton and vowels from Adonia and Elohim.
So by all means use, Jehovah and we all understand what you mean, but don't try to sell us a pup with the name being anything other than another word made up for human usage.
If the name is sacred to Jehovah Witness then it's sacred to me as well, but that does not make it real. Not to mention the fact that an unknowable God can not be known by a proper name. That's like calling gravity, Bill.
