    I was more interested in trying to illustrate the flaws in suggesting that course of action. It helps to accept what is going on if it can be illustrated that alternatives are not an improvement.

    I agree that times are going to get tough, but nothing can stop that. Shutting down the economy utterly for two months, partially shutting it down for six before incrementally opening it back up for 12 months, partially shutting it down for 6 months then having a shocking winter with a possible flush of covid-19 in the colder months exacerbated by concurrent diagnoses of flu etc, forcing another 6 month partial shutdown..........what is going to happen?

    I really don't know, but I'm not overly concerned at the uncertainty. At the end of the day this country is extremely self-sufficient, I'm not sure if any countries are less reliant on others than Australia in terms of survival (but now I'm interested in that....more reading!). Our Government has demonstrated a willingness to build a strong safety net. I know that whatever befalls us, it is going to look much, much worse elsewhere.
