1) A Total Lockdown wouldn't need the Military or Police hunting people down on the street's, nor that Farmers be stopped from feeding Animals etc either.
All it would require is a month to six weeks of people stopping being bloody idiot's.
We can see already that new cases have been dropping daily for the last week and not climbing with an exponential curve as they undoubtedly would have with out the current restrictions in place, we have gone from 460 people ten days ago to under 100 so far today. If we can get to a week or two of no new cases then It would be highly probable that Australia has eliminated the spread of Covid19 within it's borders.
How do we get to that point ? restrict the movement of people who are presently carrying it.
That can be achieved in various way's, ridiculous sights like Farmers Markets crowded with people being one of the easiest to fix just by using the same protocols practiced at Supermarkets and places like bunnings, one in one out with a cap on the number of people at any one time.
Another could be restrictions on people moving out of their Suburb to go and exercise at a Beach with 5000 other people at the same time, close the bloody things down for the duration. Simple things like petrol stations employing a filler person like they did in the old days, some gloves and a mask for them and you stay in your vehicle instead and tap and go. Make your bloody coffee at home instead of standing in line with a bunch of other randoms on the street.
If people are going to act like retards, then treat them like one.
Of course there are essential services that still need to move hence the name "essential" but is Macca's essential , kebab's, getting a haircut ?
It's all about limiting interactions with other people, once you get the case numbers down as we have been doing then you are able to contact trace with a higher degree of accuracy and speed, test and isolate those people and if necessary lock them down as they have been doing with returning citizens.
2) The proof is in the numbers already Treefern, we can bring those numbers down to a point where there are no new Community transmissions, at that point it is then a matter of containing those infected until they test negative . The borders can and are being closed to anyone not a citizen and those returning are required to isolate under supervision.
As for the " randos off an investment website would have better insights than the entirety of the medical and governmental leadership teams in charting the best course here." Comment.
This is Brendan Murphy on ABC radio from the 12th of Feb this yearFRAN KELLY:
If more cases are likely, and if you said containment is the priority here - it seems to be working at the moment in Australia - well then how does that fit with you saying yesterday there's no need for people here to wear masks? Does that mean you're positive there's no one in the Australian community carrying the virus?
PROFESSOR BRENDAN MURPHY:
I can't be 100 per cent positive, but if there were people, they would've likely only been contacts of a tiny number of people here who have had the virus. The only time when you would want to take broader community measures was with- there is evidence of sustained community transmission in Australia. We have no evidence of that. We haven't seen any spread from one person to another, non-contact person at all in Australia.

Now hindsight is a wonderful thing, but this guy is the Chief Medical Officer of Australia , and here he seems more worried about not offending China than having any real sense of an impending pandemic. Maybe it was because he was due to leave the post in early March but anyone with a bit of awareness about them could tell that China locking down roughly 50 Million people might be something to give a bit more thought to.
Mask's don't help they said, there's plenty of toilet paper they said, Australia has plenty of PPE in stock they said.
Sorry but I have come to learn that "Officials" are no better than the average person on the street and quite often less than average, they care more about the big end of town than the little guy and would rather talk than take action unless it suit's their agenda. It will be the little guy that will be paying for every cent spent in all this and the large proportion of it will go towards propping up the big end of town.Yes we could eliminate this virus in Australia in a couple of months but our governments have chosen to take the long path so as to avoid the drastic measures the fast path requires. I just wonder which path will eventually turn out to be the most drastic....
