I've also seen DOW, LLC, VOC in some lists and think Mvf and VRT must be considered but are smaller caps.

I've been thinking about if it's worth buying small parcels to participate in SPP's all weekend and a couple things that I thought of was
    • Balance sheets are in better condition than through the GFC
    • the credit markets haven't dried up like in the GFC. TCL and URW just refinanced in the last week (these are just 2 off the top of my head)
    • The central banks have flooded money markets with cash
    • The better quality companies are so far only offering discounts of 10-15% it ok if you get 30k. Never before seen 50k like AIA is this a NZ thing? As I thought the max was 30k in OZ
    • I think banks are going to be more supportive of companies that are going to breach there covenants for a few months as unlike the GFC we can see light at the end of the tunnel
    • And it's some times hard to pick. If you look at say SEK for example the broker reports 2 say they won't need one while another broker says they might.

Andy 777 what ratios or measures have you looked at to get your list?
Also I agree that it's best to pick companies that you are happy to hold for the long term . But if you only get 10-15% discount you could of bought them last week for the same price.
