Exactly Moondoong. The conviction was a complete outrage.
To some extent, the County Court trial in Victoria being a jury trial it is understandable that a jury of 12 lay people ( some educated, some not, some informed, some not ) may have acted on emotion and not reason.
It is completely unforgivable however that the Court of Appeal of Victoria upheld such a shoddy and flawed conviction. Of the three judges on the Court of Appeal of Victoria, only Justice Marcus Weinberg ( the dissenting judge ) acted with logic, law and reason. The other two should be ashamed of themselves.
I rejoice today that what was such a scandalous conviction has now been expunged.
