Your last sentence made me laugh, etherazor.
There are many people guilty of crimes who walk the earth as innocent men. In reality, they are guilty but no courts has found them to be guilty. Are they "innocent" then? Some have been accused of criminal charges but they have not been found "guilty". Does that make them "innocent" then?
So, innocence is the default position.
"Innocence" is when a person is charged and tried for a crime, but the jury decides there is a "reasonable" doubt they may not be guilty, so they are deemed to be in the default position.
Default means "we are all innocent, unless proven guilty", does it not?
