Can someone help me to understand ... I find this statement “
    • The sanitiser contains Path-Away, which cripples a virus’ cell wall, causing bacteria to group together and destroy themselves within seconds
from this site https://themarketherald.com.au/holi...aces-3-8m-order-for-natshield-2020-04-09/amp/ to be highly confusing ... “virus’ cell wall”? - “bacteria to group together”? and the premise that the NatShield is for protection against viral pathogens?

From what appears to be the “Path-away science” website the only mention of effect on viruses is to a “Lab Protocol virus H1N1” but the link doesn’t work - nor do 6 out of the 10 links to what are presumably test reports on that page. Further the lead statement about the effect of Path-Away is ... “Lengthy studies under varying conditions on a global scale with Path-Away® also indicate that this product poses excellent anti-fungal activity as well as antibacterial and anti-parasitic properties.” https://path-away.com/pages/the-science
Two of the links which do work from that page reference a study on “bacteria, yeast and mold” ... https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0...51_3_Study_Report_NG12733-2_14MAY2019.pdf?438

The third link is the MSDS for Path-Away.

This news article ... https://*********.com.au/holista-colltech-joins-forces-gicc-develop-nasal-sanitising-balm/... states “Path-Away attaches to viruses and weakens the cell walls by inhibiting their ability to take up amino acids – the basic building block of cells. This forces the virus cells to clump together, in the process of killing themselves, almost instantly.” Which could be the link I’m missing (although I understood that virus don’t take in amino acids for “building” like a cell would, rather they rely on the invaded host cell and its replicating mechanisms). The article continues with “According to Holista, Path-Away has been tested and proven to kill more than 170 pathogens including viruses, bacteria, and fungi. The ingredient can eradicate the AIDS virus and the resilient Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes tuberculosis. Moreover, GICC utilised Path-Away in assisting Malaysian authorities during the H1N1 outbreak and Singaporean authorities during the SARS outbreak in 2003.” Again all very promising for the effect upon a virus ... but the link regarding protocols for H1N1 in the Path-Away science website is not working and I can’t find other reference to effect on viruses other than press statements.

What am I missing? Is there some active ingredient in the NatShield formulation of Path-Away which extends beyond impacts on cell walls (which virus don’t have... unless the meaning here has been simplified and is intended to refer to a virus protein capsule or capsid....). From what I can work out the NatShield product is a formulation of Path-Away and distilled water produced by HCT under licence from GICC for distribution in specific parts of the world (not the USA curiously given recent sales announcements and there are YouTube videos of the GICC founder promoting spray on and wipe on Path-Away products for use on humans based on USA customers???) thus presumably the active ingredient must be Path-Away but I can’t find anything to confirm effect on viruses...

The latest company announcement confirms Path-Away to be “Holista has a global collaboration with Path-Away®, a plant-based solution that is proven to kill a board spectrum of microbes. The all natural alcohol-free solution is an active ingredient in Holista’s proprietary hand sanitiser, NatShieldTM that is sold under its personal care space.” Is there some other active ingredient in the NatShield which acts on viral capsids? Or is NatShield a formulation of Path-Away made to be able to be applied to human contact (which is not listed as one of the applications on the Path-Away website and so I’m guessing that’s what HCT is doing which is different here ... but where’s the connection to virus pathogens?).

This Q and A from HCT provides some more insight http://www.holistaco.com/pdf/corporate_news/2020/Covid_19_Virus_and_Path-Away_Q&A.pdf

It mentions the prevention of amino acid take up by viruses (perhaps my basic understanding of viral physiology is lacking detail and I’m very happy to be steered straight there). Can anyone tell me what is a “mephitic pathogen”? Dr Google suggests it’s a pathogen which smells..? Or what is a “mephitic pathogen (from viruses)” - from?

This 2016 report by “Airvention” lists a range of pathogens affected by Path-Away (although the effective concentrations are not listed). Airvention looks to be a provider/seller of building based UVC focused air supply and airconditioning products with a link to Path-Away which it notes is a product “To combat periodic mould and many other bacteria”. The Airvention linked article includes viruses so again gives some of the puzzle pieces I’m looking for (but still searching for the published scientific data confirming efficacy). https://airvention.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/1GeneralLabInfo.pdf

I did find some reports out of Cyprus about testing Path-Away. From the report ... “ A 2.5% concentration sample of Path-Away® Anti Pathogenic Solution was submitted to Erduran Medical Laboratory for testing in various matrixes to determine the efficacy against bacteria, yeasts and fungus. The section of the laboratory where urine analysis is conducted was chosen as the test site due to the proliferation of bacteria there during a normal work day.” Further in the report it notes ... “Laboratory studies have indicated that the anti-pathogenic mechanism of efficacy for Path-Away®Anti Pathogenic Solution takes place in the cytoplasmic membrane where the uptake of amino acids is prevented and disorganization of the cytoplasmic membrane and leakage of low molecular weight cellular contents takes place thus destroying the pathogenicity of the cell thereby rendering it harmless. There is evidence that it also interrupts cellular respiration.” (As far as I know viruses don’t undergo cellular respiration and I’m unsure that they uptake amino acids but happy to become better educated on that point - plus this is an older paper and maybe newer material addresses the mechanism for impact on a viral capsule/capsid). I should also acknowledge that the report states for each of the analysis reports done ... “This analysis report is created upon special request and shall not be used in any means of official or judicial purposes.”

The report conclusion does show significant reduction in certain bacteria in the air samples taken in the laboratory following application of the product ... “1. Urine analysis room wall with AC: Negative for both E.coli and Total Coliform but total bacteria count was reduced to 3 cfu/cm Sq. 2. Personnel WC room wall: Negative for both E.coli and Total Coliform but total bacteria
count was reduced to 5 cfu/cm Sq.”... “Path-Away® Anti-Pathogenic Solution effected total bacteria levels with a reduction of 94% and 96% respectively. The efficacy was superb and the product is both natural and user friendly.”

    https://docplayer.net/54560672-Labo...ti-pathogenic-solution-2-5-concentration.html.

And so the Cyprus results I could find certainly show effect on two particular bacteria but I don’t see much in there about viruses.

In general, I’m confused about the potential here. Clearly orders are being made. Clearly there’s effect of Path-Away on bacteria, yeasts and "molds”. Clearly there is a great value in a product of that effect that can be safely applied to humans. Clearly an important part of the NatShield product is Path-Away which is wholly owned by a US company which collaborates with HCT for NatShield. Clearly there’s papers which show effect against cell walls of “bacteria, yeasts and molds”.

But what’s the published scientific confirmation of effect on viruses? Has anyone got a link to a paper regarding the Malaysian Health department’s endorsement of use in connection with H1N1?

I do see an investment opportunity here but I’m still confused about the science regarding effect on viruses which perplexes me?

Does anyone have links to the science regarding impact on viruses?
