Do you really think so atomou? I would've thought Turnbull has made a fairly good start.
I actually think Turnbull is a very substantial alternative as PM. My only concern is his party in general......the likes of Bishop, Abbott, Pyne, etc etc and the far right membership etc.....not to mention the Nationals....say no more about them.
And....imo.....Turnbull just doesn't come across as the complete package. I believe that the public thinks that 'there's more to him than meets the eye'....??? Not sure?
I don't think it would matter who the Coalition came up with at the moment. Their problem is that Howard managed to stay there, virtually against the wishes of the public for his last two, or arguably three terms, by using sneaky, cunning means (and Latham helped his cause), and so, by the time Johnny was jettisoned, the public had built up such resentment towards the thinking of the Coalition.
The length of the Coalition's tenure resulted in some of its ugly, deep-seated, weird prejudices and thinking being exposed........and I think it's going to take a while for the public to trust them again. The vast majority of Australians do not want to revisit that ugliness in the near future.
