I quite agree. There is a wholesale liquidation as people scramble for cash, and get hit by margin calls. This is deleveraging at its most severe.

When the deleveraging stops, the equities and commodities markets will be a vacuum into which cash will flow, looking for a better return than the banks can offer on a decreasing trend in interest rates.
