That probably won't happen, unless the US opens up completely in the next month or so. The 36% death rate is probably not accurate. You would have to drill down to figure out the actual death rate. Statistics are easily misleading. The current total deaths vs total cases gives a death rate of 5.6%. That wouldn't be correct either because it takes up to 2 weeks to die. Average death rate at the moment is around 2,000 per day. If you assume that it takes exactly 14 days to die and you multiply that by 2000 and add the result to the current 47k deaths, you get a death rate around 9%.

The best metric is total deaths/resolved cases. In the US, that figure is currently 36%.
