You absolutely have the right to express your opinion and you absolutely have the right to be wrong. Not that you are wrong - absolutely.
You are right with your view of a further downward movement on the Dow.
However I must take issue on these points.
"Lets face it. Noone {sic} knows where the bottom is. Has it passed? Will it arrive in 2012? Whomever makes the best qualified guess (and thats all it will be) will make more $$$$ than the guy who's off."
Yes Right on the money.
"Anyway, I feel we have a way to fall still IMO, not a lot further"
Sorry mate - it will fall a lot further.
"However, I don't think we will see the volatility as we have."
Wana bet?
"If you use a common sense approach, most investors proabably got out when we had huge shock losses on the market a few weeks back,"
Perhaps. I got out of going long on stocks about 8 months ago. Been shorting ever since the aussie and some selected stocks.
"Many have renetered and then there are more waiting to find the bottom."
Perhaps but those who have re-entered are going to regret it.
"Regardless of how much more bad news there may be to come, people are now 'softened' to the news."
Yep I believe going to bed and pulling up the doona over your head helps.
"They expect it, so it doesnt hit as hard any more. Someone was saying the other day, "wait till the unemployment figures come out and the dow will drop 1000 overnight". Really???, I don;t think so. Will it drop, probably, but people become immune."
Immune? Not if you are in the market sunshine.
"Its not to say they ignore it, they just take it with a grain of salt."
Yep. A grain of salt on dog food whilst you make the park bench your home does seem to add to the flavour.
"So to those saying we are rallying, I disagree. To those saying the world is ending as we know it, I disagree also."
Oh the world isn't ending. Just suffering from a bullseye hit from a comet.
"Life goes on, the world will exist with a crappy market or not. People will continue to trade regardless and the status quo+ will be restored one day."
Yep No doubt about that. Will take 10 to 15 years to get back to the highs of 07 though.
"It just requires more patience than we have gotten use to coming off a boom!"
Agree.
