The virus does not target the elderly per se. It targets all adults.

If you are old and/or sick and/or genetically unlucky you might not pull through. It hits some people harder than others but the younger people generally have healthier immune systems. It can still knock you about and in some cases kill if you are obese or unwell already regardless of age.

It also hits people from indigenous minorities harder in mortality because of their general health.
