    Hey GR,in short no.Chalk and cheese.,my reasons .
    Verizons plan to diversify.
-Buy content ie merger with time warner result content ownership.(and a lot of it).One of the larghest mergers .
-esports,again actually ownership of esports infrastructure with the establishment of the digitas partnership.
Both serious partnerships and content control and both providing verizon with profits from the developing business esports or the time warner established business.
Lets not forget in the US esports is still developing behind korea, japan and china, but as posted prize money is already the highest as in equal to super bowl prize money.
Above serious material content ownership to diverify verizons business model. Not forgetting verizon is well established in south east asia enterprize because thodey was late to the party with nas,and as posted it seems to me verizon is showing more interest in australian enterprize which obviously involves nas.

Now we look at penn that u and others feel is doing a good or reasonable job.My obvious question is y do u and others believe that ?
.He has made the obvious and simplistic decision to spend billions on the mobile (fad) network.Just a basic decision and learnt from trujillo, and we can only hope the extra billions spent on the network didn't involve massive inefficient wastage..
So excluding thodeys long list of failures we come to penns diversity decisions or lack of them.Hmm what? nas and enterprise is also obvious but the serious issue is if the telco tries to expand into very complex nas and enterprise they will lose big money and IT companies that specialize in it will make tls look clumsy ie data 3.So the telco must understand its limitations before trying to expend in this sector.I believe penn doesn't understand this and this maybe being reflected in total costs..
Then we come to content, verizon owns the content whether time warner or the developing US esports.
penn well he appears to be unable to own content and ends up just being the connectivity for content owners whether foxtel, telstra tv,the nfc phone boxes and my concern is the same will happen with esports.
I don't believe penn understands how to monetize esports as it develops.
Vrixon and TSM understand how to monetize esports.
Sensis and foxtel are in trouble because thodey and penn don't understand 'business' beyond maintaining a leading mobile connectivity network which basically involves capex and spectrum.
