Hi Jrowl1.
I personally wouldn't believe either Motley or Goldman's opinions - in fact any broker without being able to get under the hood of the reasons for their valuations. They also do tend from time to time have open positions they sell into post a market valuation, which can appear to be opportunistic.
Not suggesting that's what we have here with the SBM valuation - I have a holding in it because.
- Technicals look good.
- Improving cash flow.
- Debt/Cash ratio.
- Reasonable management and prospects.
- Gold is in the early stages of a massive Bull markets.
- Massive corporate and country debt pre COVID19, which has been inflated further post.
- Massive stimulus package at all major Central Banks and the inability to wind it back without pain.
- Tighter political / FED relationships which don't allow the nature cycle of boom to bust to play out = more debt.
- Currency debasement ramping up with currency wars to compete globally.
- Prolonged lower real interest rates that will force people to seek yield - equities and gold, with the former representing false hope.
- Significant disruption to supply chains and subsequent recovery will initially lead to deflation (China ramp up, demand down).
- Followed by inflation as politics forces a rethink about supply chains and the China just in time philosophy.
Not sure what you mean by "sent my holdings to Rick's rankings" - I subscribe to RV and he is one of many in diverse industries with an opinion. Naturally he leans toward gold, but his opinion represents part of a broader mosaic that paints the picture pretty clearly.
Cheers and all the best!
