It is certainly worthwhile turning over the rubble at the moment and having a look for potential value in the marketplace. Patience and preparation is probably the key at the moment. I was a long term holder of MQG but decided to sell down all my holdings in early Jan, apart from A2M. Put a bit into gold altho a tad early on that one. Whilst the comments made by Polarbear666 are generally correct there are areas that Macquarie has picked up in i.e. oil storage facilities such as IMTT(48 MBL, bulk terminalling to third parties)

As an organisation MQG has proved itself to be quite nimble and my personal expectations are that it will adapt fairly quickly and opportunistically to the current environment. The current environment is fairly ripe for Market facing tranactionables with disruptive issues providing opportunities for buyouts and recapitalisations.
For this reason I will most likely go back into Macquarie when the right opportunity presents itself. (I am an 'average Joe' retail investor, this is not investment advice but rather personal opinion only) enjoy the remainder of the weekend and take care
