What an odd view of what constitutes "civilised" red-frog! What do the words "humane" and "humanely" mean to you? Because some humans behave despicably, so should we call the rest of humanity "inhumane" or allow for it to behave equally as despicably?
We don't "pretend" to be civilised, red-frog, we aspire to. We live in a "civilitas" in a city, in a society, in a community and we should have laws and engender morals which treat everyone with equal dignity. Some, individuals will, for one reason or another, fail to behave according to those laws and morals; that doesn't mean the rest of us -as a group, as a society, as a community, should also behave in like manner.
