"What an odd view of what constitutes "civilised" red-frog! What do the words "humane" and "humanely" mean to you? Because some humans behave despicably, so should we call the rest of humanity "inhumane" or allow for it to behave equally as despicably?
We don't "pretend" to be civilised, red-frog, we aspire to. We live in a "civilitas" in a city, in a society, in a community and we should have laws and engender morals which treat everyone with equal dignity. Some, individuals will, for one reason or another, fail to behave according to those laws and morals; that doesn't mean the rest of us -as a group, as a society, as a community, should also behave in like manner."
Atomou, how about you write to our governments asking them to despose of all their weapons as they are setting a bad example and are obviously not aspiring to your view of civilisation.
Lets take it a bit further. There should be no violence of any kind committed under any circumstances. A great ideal but not achievable. Have you ever physically hurt anyone? Have you ever killed another of God's creatures? Maybe you squashed or sprayed the odd creepy crawly in your time? If you have then what makes you so high and mighty? Is not all of God's creatures equal?
Or do you think human beings are so superior to other creatures that we can pick and choose what we kill depending on whether they offend us in some way or not? If we can kill other creatures that have caused us no harm why should we not kill humans who act in a most brutal and sadistic way to other humans?
I live in the practical world where if I hear someone breaking into my house I will have no hesitation in bashing them as hard as I can with my trusty pick handle as many times as I think is necessary to ensure they are unable to get up again. If I kill them in the process then too bad, they shouldn't have been in my place in the middle of the night in the first place. I'm sure you would welcome them in and ask what they want.
