Germany has reportedly offered a $15 billion bail out with strings.
Just another big business with a huge turnover and small margins. Costs Lufthansa around $160 million per day just in fixed costs so it's one of the big boys. Like Virgin it should fly again but as a smaller concern to begin with. Passengers aren't going to rush airline seats any time soon so big airlines are going to have trouble for the first few years as the flying public reassess their flying needs.
This is why Qantas probably is if not the best managed airline globally. And lucky.
