    tcis,
you know I didn’t say it might not go up, but clearly you are gambling if you think "this is just about the perfect time to buy in ones lifetime" – because if you have this mind set, you have not factored any downside risk

I'm only playing the trend, and trust me, once the DJIA or XJO breaks out of the current channel (upwards) I'll sit up and take notice, close all short positions, and wait. If confirmation of a rally is on, I'll be on that, don't worry.

There is no value in being optimistic or pessimistic, just value in being realistic, so whilst we very well may have seen a bottom it is pure madness to think it's some kind of certainty.

FYI, my 'short' positions (put options) have been smaller and cautions of late, and even used some straddles to hedge my bets. This strategy has meant I’ve missed some really big gains, but also protected against losses.
.. does’nt sound like blacks and harry are suggesting some cautions foot in the water, and hedged position…… sounded more like jump in with everything, the water’s fine
Sorry I guess it was dismissive, but I’ve got a tender spot for unsubstantiated ramping
    Ciao
    df
