Having a 20 ~ 25% reduction in hospitilisation time when your hospitals are overrun and not coping is useful, as long as the negative side effects don't outweigh that. Also a 3% decrease in mortality is worth having, its better than nothing. At 15,000 deaths a week in the US that's 450 people a week.
