Well that 3% wasn't statistically significant which means it likely won't be achieved across a large population.
Given its success in reducing hospitalization, it could indicate the drug is killing a different cohort of patients which would not have died if left on the placebo since we should have expected additional survival based on the hospitalization reduction. FDA would know this as well (and as others studies have shown) but are pretty desperate, atm.
