@JACK; we've already wasted far too much taxpayer money on US aircraft such as Howard's dreadful Sea-King choppers and F35 fighters that don't perform as per US rhetoric and when they explode on take-off don't even have warranty cover.
Note that reports of the crash of an Australian F35 on take-off have apparently been censored - the URL I had no longer works! Hence the reports below:
"Inside America's Dysfunctional Trillion-Dollar Fighter Jet Progam"
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/21/magazine/f35-joint-strike-fighter-program.html
"Australia grounds Joint Strike Fighter fleet after US Marine Corps F-35 in catastrophic engine failure and crash"
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-10-12/australias-f-35-fleet-grounded-us-joint-strike-fighter-crash/10371052
"Probe finds F-35's first crash was caused by manufacturing defect ..."
https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2019/05/12/world/f-35s-first-crash-caused-manufacturing-defect-report/#.XrINt0BuKHs
So while large US corporations like News Corp, Glencore, Apple, Facebook, Chevron, Google, ... pay almost $No $Tax in Australia on $Countless $Billions from their operations within Australia; we buy their fighter planes at $Massive $Prices even though they don't have warranty cover and are prone to failure.
