The cold snap is infact quite consistent with climate change. The melting of polar and greenland ice is causing the gulf stream, which warms the oceans in that area, to slow and possibly even stop. This causes lowering of temps and could even produce an ice age in the UK.
The ignorance displayed on HC never ceases to amaze me...
