Great to hear the support from Greg Hunt for Telehealth to continue to grow post the current Covid focused environment.
Apologies to include some facts into the mix, but it is important to define what kind of GP consultations will occur via telehealth.....I haven't heard an authority on the topic suggest that anymore than about 30% of GP consultations will be appropriate for Telehealth.....So things like renewing prescriptions or ordering ultrasounds and scans are good examples of services doctors could provide via telehealth in the post Covid world.
But complex diagnosis or conditions where physical examination is important are not going to be encouraged to be done via Telehealth.
If/when RAP can come up with a commercially viable Asthma/Copd monitoring service, that will be the perfect service for Telehealth.........diagnosis - not so much.....unless it's an initial consultation from somewhere in a remote area confirming they need to make a trip to hospital/doctors.
