Yes, the cost of the transmission lines has been well looked at before both by GDY and pundits here.
I have heard the issue raised at shareholder meetings up to two years ago or more and I can only say that GDY representatives appeared very comfortable about it. They had costings then and I felt 'strategies'.
They have continued to commit large sums of money to pressing ahead.
The sums are too hard for me.

However, here is an interesting read of an interview with an old billionaire American, T. Boone Pickens, who made his pile in the oil business in Texas. He enjoys sort of guru status in the US.
This story is of his current venture which is in 'altenative energy'. He just wont lie down.
Wind Power is his choice and, how lucky can you be, there's loads of it in his own backyard right near where his oil used to be.
Now he is about throwing his money and effort into developing BIG time wind farms (well he is from Texas) in Nortern Texas and on further North. Oklahoma, Kansas and the like.
There is a "corridor" of country here apparently renowned for plenty of wind.
This is American outback though. A point not lost on Boone Pickens who is well aware that very large transmission lines will be required to reach the main markets. Over the Rockies to the West and a bloody long way over the savanna to the East.

Have a read and see what he thinks.
Remember poor old Boone is harvesting wind power. That's not base load like hot rocks. Those winds don't blow gales constantly.
