why would anyone take any notice of what patrick smith has to say. the guy is a complete twat. when he comes on the radio each morning i turn it off. as sad as it is that horses work for a living i dont see any dogooders jumping up and down about workers carrying big weights everyday up and down ladders or office workers stuck in cubicles 8-12hrs a day. but we are human so its ok. racehorses in the majority of cases are treated better than humans. you want to help horses then go out to the outskirts of all major cities and look at the so called pets that people keep that are being neglected and sometimes brutalised by idiots for their own entertainment. just because a jockey is waving the whip and going thru the motion doesn't mean they are hurting the horse. they usually get one or two to pick the horse up and then its about momentum. hurting the horse doesn't help
