@just-a-dash, it's total nonsense to say nuclear is 'clean & proven' when it produces large amounts of high level radioactive waste. History has proven that nuclear isn't clean : contamination lasts for a very long time.
There were some interesting details presented in a 2019 study that looked at Titanium as a possible candidate metal for long term high level waste storage. The study is titled 'Long term corrosion estimation of carbon steel, titanium and its alloy in backfill material of compacted bentonite for nuclear waster repository'.
The first paragraph under the Introduction heading is easy enough to understand.
