if you looked at the animation its cemented liner completion with fracc, like kennedy, we know the formation has been closing in on the fracc and thus kennedy dropped off in the shale.. later kennedy will be reworked. that part needs to be condtantly studied and improved, thats why kennedy had partial fraccs done, mini fracs, when its figured out then you do the entire well...

the chalks are open hole completions, so kowalik has been completed with a slotted liner, no cement, direct contact to the formation.. just like a pvc ag pipe in terms of slots in the casing..

these chalks dont need fraccing like the shale, and flow on their own if connected to natural fractures.. (see flare photos) when your well flares during drilling with massive mudweights against it, then you know your onto something..

the difference with open hole completion to cemented liner is that open hole you need to wash out that thick hard mud thats stuck to the formation, so chemicals like acid can be used..

cleaning up a hole can be quite a job as we are learning is the case on kowalik, which is very usual!!

this well wanted to flow all the way from the driling stages, imho it may be worth considering that once cleaned up a well is more likely to flow if its demonstrating flow during drilling..

    cheers
