I keep thinking, this trial was not to satisfy me or you.
Its design and results are completely around satisfying the Elanco requirement plus the data required to enter phase 2 human trials.
They reckon they have enough to move forward....

Also, Elanco would be / are cognisant of the impacts of covid on the trial.

My gut feel is that the trial continuation was almost impossible for extending recruitment since day one of lock down and so pausing the trial was simply admitting that a return on any further investment was extremely unlikely; effectively cash conservation kicked in.
