If you were to judge the chances of it happening by the attitude displayed in a couple of the snide remarks on this thread, then you would say no.
I have always thought that the racism in Australia towards our indigenous people is much worse than the racism towards African Americans in the US.
Having said that, individuals like Barack Obama don't come along too often, and perhaps if we had an aboriginal guy or lady come along who possessed the gifts that Obama does...then he/she may be able to achieve the seemingly impossible.
