China has faced new condemnation from the US as president Donald Trump took to Twitter to declare the country’s “incompetence” led to “mass worldwide killing”.

Trump’s latest outburst came as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasted Beijing for “threatening Australia with economic retaliation” over the charge for an inquiry into the origins of COVID-19.
