I think it's a bit of a grey area in regard to what is considered "material." A drop of 7% in forecast EBIT in these circumstances could be regarded as just implied given the share price decline that had already occurred and the broader economic contraction. As it turns out they've done the right thing by disclosing because the share price sold off appreciably on the guidance....the market reacted to the news so it was material.
