Hydro is a Fortune Global 500 supplier of aluminium and aluminium products. Based in Norway, the company employs 23,000 people in 40 countries and has activities on all continents.

United Minerals Corporation NL has formed a joint venture with Hydro Aluminium AS of Norway to secure a bauxite reserve to maintain a long-term supply to an alumina refinery.

Hydro Aluminium has a 75 percent interest in the joint venture through its Hydro Aluminium Western Australia Pty Ltd subsidiary, and United Minerals holds a 25 percent interest through its Bauxite Australia Pty Ltd subsidiary.

Bauxite Australia has tenements comprising 6,830sqkm in the established bauxite province of the Kimberley region of Western Australia. All tenements the subject of the joint venture will now be owned in the proportions of the joint venture.
