On a related subject, the QLD Govt has just appoved building the CopperString 2 high-voltage transmission link from Townsville to Cloncurry (and potentially on to Mt Isa a further 100 Kms or so west).

While Kidston will be connected using a new transmission link to the north-east towards Cairns, Kidston is also located in the proposed north QLD Clean Energy Hub, one of the Renewable Energy Zones identified by AEMO.  The route of Copperstring 2 passes through the southern end of this REZ, so potentially expanding the potential users of power generated from Kidston and other projects in the area.
