The Bible focuses a great deal on death and destruction.
From the alleged Noah's flood that wiped out most of creation, to the slaughter of newborns in Egypt, to the horrific sacrifice taught gleefully by some Christians to save their skins, to some sort of judgement that results in death by fire for most who choose the wrong horse in the great gamble - and that is a gamble which most of us can't win.
Perhaps it is something to do with this love affair with love and destruction.
