ATU is high quality metallurgic coal and whether your environmental views oppose it or not, it's near impossible to make steel and other vital industrial items without it.
Unless you plan to live in a wooden house and drive a Flintstones style car? Even then I am sure there is a bigger greeny than you (no offence) who would oppose you chopping down those trees to live in that house and build that car so you can't appease everyone. Metallurgic coal will be around for as long as time.
You find met coal is also very cyclical in prices and when those wild weathers in QLD whip up it can send the price to $300 pretty quickly.
Hazelwood was always a thermal coal power station. You have your coals confused, they are not all dirty.
