It appears that most quaternary ammonium is considered hazardous (corrosive), however, once diluted it could become non hazardous and then externally not considered toxic / corrosive - still not something you want to consume.I found an MSDS for 'Zoono Germfree 24 Hand Sanitiser and Protectant'. The % of quaternary ammonium in the product was 0.60%. The contents in the rest of the product were water, emulsifier and fragrance.

In a 1litre bottle the quaternary ammonium would consist of 6mls. If this is the active ingredient it must be some strong stuff!!

It would be interesting to see the SDS for quaternary ammonium that ZNO use in it's bulk form before it is mixed to create ZNO's product. I am confident it would be hazardous in bulk / concentrated form.

FYI - quaternary ammonium is in every day products incl other disinfectants.
