The Prime Minister made some comment today about interstate travel resuming in July.

This is a tad confusing because NSW and Victoria have their border open, so from 1 June each can "legally" visit the other.

He may have been more referring to SA, Tassie, WA and Qld that have all not to my knowledge indicated when their borders may reopen.

This lack of domestic destinations will continue to cost QAN a lot of money, even if as I expect VAH completely falls over and there's no major second airline. For instance every six months flight deck crews must have a session on an aircraft simulator to keep their licence if I'm not mistaken.

In other nations, pundits suggest airlines won't be back to 'normal' passenger numbers until 2023 so that has to be a significant drag on the QAN share price. Why buy it now if the medium term outlook is middling at best, poor at worst? There's no certainty as to when international flights will resume, and how much demand there'll be from us and foreigners.
